      It’s was a big log - more than o could split with an axe. I like wedges just because I can take more controlled swings. Thanks for the question.

      I have a couple of those (boatbuilder), bought all besides one on ebay (25 and 30 years back though) and did restore/modify those. Usually You either buy those new, or You buy a bloody whole buncha work everytime is what I learned.

      ​@@ChopWithChrisRecently I've been trying to find a good round bottomed spokeshave, I know ebay is a viable option but id like to see it and hold it in person before i buy. We certainly do have some decent antique shops that might sell us some good tools. I've been to a few of those, but they're very scarce.I think i just have to get lucky. I did find an excelent condition Infill Plane going for only £120 ($150) which was pretty damn good...So its not all hopeless! 😅

    The wooden compass plane has likely been around for centuries with it growing to prominence through the 1700's. This version maybe 1864 or later.
